A friend of mine recently told me that he has a coworker with narcolepsy — a disorder that causes extreme daytime sleepiness or even involuntary naps. And because the diagnosis has been shared with the Human Resources department, this employee now has official permission to fall asleep during the CEO's PowerPoint presentations.
So... was the reaction of this unfortunate narcoleptic's colleagues sympathy? Pity? Offers of assistance?
More typical, apparently, is this reaction: "I wish I'd thought of that."
